AAMC PREview® Professional Readiness Exam

Professionalism matters to medical schools. They seek applicants who have developed an understanding of professionalism and who are ready to advance their competencies. The AAMC PREview® professional readiness exam is designed to look beyond academic metrics to assess and evaluate the professional competencies that schools have found important for success: resilience and adaptability, service orientation, ethical responsibility to self and others, empathy and compassion, cultural awareness, cultural humility, and teamwork and collaboration, among others.

The AAMC PREview® professional readiness exam will be offered April through September of 2025. Once registration opens, examinees can register to take the PREview exam by accessing the PREview portal. 

A growing number of U.S. medical schools have adopted the AAMC PREview® professional readiness exam into their admissions processes to enhance holistic review of applications.
